Shopping

To celebrate that Dazhitaa is really pregnant, I wanted to do some shopping yesterday. In a pet shop. A friend of mine has this really handy, spoon-like, thingie to throw balls with. It is called a "chuckit" (Here is a link to the manufacturer's website). I really liked it and wanted to buy one. So I went to the pet shop in the village where my parents live (in the Netherlands, where I am visiting at the moment). Unfortunately, they were all sold out. So we went to a different town and there they told us that they were hard to get at the moment. What a bummer! It will have to wait. It will be a while before our dog will be old enough for that toy anyway.

I did buy something else... a water bottle with a little plastic bowl to let the dog drink out of when travelling or away from home for long walks. And a nice Dutch dog magazine. That satisfied my need to do dog related shopping for a while. :D

We're pregnant!!

Woooohooooo!! Just got a text message from Nicole to let us know that Dazhitaa is pregnant!!

Only 1 month to go and then the puppies should be born! That is not a long wait anymore. There was no puppy count done during the ultrasound, so it is going to be a surprise how many will come out.

Update on Dazhitaa

I got an email update from Nicole. Dazhitaa is doing well, she has a huge appetite and she sleeps a lot. That all sounds like pregnancy to me! Nicole is taking her to the vet on Friday, 25 April 2008 to determine whether she is really pregnant or not. The vet will feel Dazhitaa's belly and if she is not so sure that Dazhitaa is pregnant, Nicole will make an appoinment for an ultrasound. Nicole said that they won't try to count the puppies, because often mistakes are made. I don't mind, it will keep it extra exciting and a bigger surprise when the puppies are born! :D

Since Dazhitaa mated with Ari, I have been having this wonderful, peaceful and relaxed feeling inside. The feeling that everything will go just fine. And I am going to trust that feeling.

And thanks to a Polish reader, Nicole is now also reading my Blog! That is pretty cool! :D

Name searching

I am still at it. Searching for a good dog name.
I have had a look at maps of "Nova Scotia", family names from "Nova Scotia" etc. I had a look at the Indian names too. But there was nothing that jumped out at me.

And now I have found a new source... my SPAM folder!! LOL! Reto and I have been looking for English/American names. And most senders of the SPAM I get have English/American names. So before I delete my SPAM, I check all the names now. Found one that we really like. I think I am going to keep it secret until we know which puppy will be ours.

Shopping

I did my first shopping for the dog today! YAY!

From a dutch online shop I ordered:

- bench
- cover for the bench
- softbeds (4 for the price of 3)
- 2 Kongs (one Small and one Large)
- 2 clickers
- food/water bowls with a standard

It will be delivered at my parents' house in Holland in the next few days. We are going to visit them end of April, so that is when we will take all our "dog stuff" home.

No ultrasound

More news from Nicole: Around the 25th day of the pregnancy she will take Dazhitaa to the vet. But not necessarily for an ultrasound. The vet will try to feel if Dazhitaa is pregnant. Only if she is unsure whether she is pregnant or not, the vet will do an ultrasound.

So it will really be a surprise how many pups will be born end of May. Exciting! I have a good feeling about it.

Holiday re-scheduled!

Yes! We were able to re-schedule our holiday! And they only had a "luxus suite" left for us, LOL! So we will have a very luxurious time. :D We are returning on the 2nd of August.

It does feel a lot better to know that we can pick up our puppy in time.
