First short walk
On Tuesday, 22 July 2008, we went to see Wesha the last time before we will take her home with us. We were on our way to Lermoos, Austria, for our last dog-less holiday. We didn't have time to stay too long, but we were in for a real treat... we got to go on a short walk with Duscha, Dazhitaa, Wesha and Wakass!
The first bit, the pups had to be carried and Duscha and Dazhitaa were on the leash. But once in the forrest, we could all let them walk free. Wesha was very brave, not scared at all and she enjoyed sniffing around. Once we even had to stop walking, because she sniffed for such a long time... After a while she looked up and came running to us. That was really wonderful!
When we got back home, I thought Wesha and Wakass would immediately fall asleep, exhausted from the experience. But they were fit as a fiddle and played for a while. Only when the other brothers and sisters fell asleep, they did too.
We hadn't seen the puppies for 10 days and it was amazing to see how much they had changed again. They had become so much more individuals. The differences between them had become bigger. Not in size, but in the shape of their heads, for instance. Wesha has a fairly narrow snout, whereas Wakass for instance had a much broader snout. Things like that.

Another bed for Wesha
Last night, I ordered another bed for Wesha. Reto thought it was unfair to only offer her the bench to sleep in. So I ordered a nice, soft, huggable bed:
Overnight, she will have to sleep in the bench (in the beginning, we will put it next to our bed, later it will stay in the livingroom), but during the day, she can choose.

Ready for Wesha
We have just about everything we need for her. (Still need to buy some oils and seaweed powder) The soft toys and the vet beds have been washed. Today, Tina and I set up the bench in the living room. (When Wesha is older, she will get a different dog bed.) Tina made a nice shield saying "Wesha", to put over the shield with the brand name of the bench.

Dog Shopping
Yesterday, I bought some more "necessities" for Wesha:
- a thingy to remove ticks
- 2 brushes
- 4 toys (see pic)
The kids each choose a toy and I choose 2. We removed the "squeak-thingy" from the chicken, and the other toys don't squeak either.

No renaming
All the name searching was for nothing... (well it was a nice way to pass the time, hahaha) Because yesterday, while talking about the puppies and about which one might become ours, we found out that we had gotten so used to the names, that we decided not to rename our future puppy.
I have found that I identify the puppies by their names so much, that it would be weird to call them anything else. They have become their names. Or rather, the names have become the puppies. When I realised that "Mindy" would be too sweet for Ekima, I tried to imagine naming any of the other puppies Mindy. And none of it worked anymore. At first I thought we would just have to find another name. But then Reto said that they all have names that suit them. And I have to agree with him.
So.. now, all we are waiting for is know which one will be ours. So that we can finally give in and totally fall in love with her. (It is still very exciting... it might not even be Sawenta or Ekima... I will let you know as soon as I know!)

Third Visit
Today, we visited the puppies for the third time. It was absolutely amazing how much they had changed in just 1 week! They are even more fun now... if you would have told me last week, I would have had a hard time to believe it. But they start to show their character more, their faces have suddenly gotten a lot more definition and they are so playful.
Nicole told us that we will most likely get one of these two:

We are of course delighted. It feels good to know that we will take one of these two cute puppies home! We can tell Nicole which one is our favorite, but we haven't done that yet. It is so hard to choose. They are both absolutely adorable and beautiful in their own way. If the decision would be only up to me, I think I would choose Ekima. Because I really love that white in her face. I think it will make her a bit more special when she is a grown up dog.

Eske Weta Anemona - Red Fire
Espa Siwa Kiya - Big Seagull
Ekima Kona - Snow Queen
Esk Wesha Wiskopi - Sweet Girl
From the 5 female names, we like Sawenta best. If she would come home with us, we would keep the name. Eventhough I didn't want a name that ends with an "a". It doesn't bother me, because I really like the name.
We also liked the name Ekima, but unfortunately, the Swiss pronounce the "k" in an ugly (to my Dutch ears anyway) way. It would annoy me a lot if people would do that. So... should any of the other girls come home with us, we will re-name her. Most probably we will call her Mindy. (unless I will change my mind, LOL! And I am not saying that won't happen.... I AM a woman afterall! ;-) )
