Second visit
Today we went to visit again! It was wonderful! The puppies have grown so much and they now are really dogs, just miniature doggies. Active, playful and just too cute! Reto and the kids hadn't seen them of course and they couldn't get enough of them either. Luckily, Nicole gave us plenty of time again.
It was harder to take really good pics this time, because they were so active and there were 3 - 4 persons in the pen (read: in the way...). Here are a few of them. You can see all the photos here (after the photos from the first visit).
I am glad that we can visit again next week Sunday! No more long wait.

4 weeks old today
How time flies. And before you know it, the tiny red little babies turn into real miniature dogs. We are going to visit them on Saturday afternoon, 28 June and I can't wait! I have been counting how many nights to go for 3 days already. Hahahaha. I am definitely worse than the kids. Who also look forward to finally seeing the puppies, but they are relaxter about it than me.

I was in Denmark last week and visited the Safari Park "Knuthenborg". In the gift shop, I found a special "dog - teddy bear"! I just had to buy it. It only has a shape, but no ears, eyes, nose or anything that could get torn off or swallowed by the dog. It is so cute! I take the dog-bear into my bed the night before we are going to pick up the puppy. To let it get my smell, in the hope that our puppy will sleep with it peacefully on its first night in our home. (And if not: I will take the puppy into my bed. My principles are already vanishing, LOL! :D )

Eyes open and alert!
Just got these pictures from Nicole's website. There is a huge difference compared to last Thursday (when I was visiting); the eyes are really open now. They look so totally alert. Great to see how the puppies are changing and developing!

My first visit
Today, I visited Nicole and I saw the puppies (in real life) for the first time! Now where shall I begin? Actually, I want to begin by thanking Nicole. Thank you, Nicole, for giving so much of your time, so that I could enjoy the puppies without even having to think about time. I totally forgot time, I have to admit. I left home early this morning and I arrived at Hayowenta's at 09.45 hrs. To my surprise (and shock), when I looked on my watch, it was almost noon! Amazing how time flies when you're watching puppies.
There is always something going on and even when they are all 7 asleep... I could watch them for hours. How they twitch in their sleep, how round their bellies are after feeding, how cute their pink little noses and pink bottom of their feet are. And when they are awake, it is so much fun to see them crawling around (some of them are almost walking), to hear them squeek and (almost) bark, to watch them yawn and stretch and roll on their backs. Crawling over and under and against each other. How they got all agitated when mum Dazhitaa got close to the box.

Dates for puppy cuddling!
I talked to Nicole this morning and we have agreed the dates that we can go puppy-cuddling. The first time is next Thursday, 12 June already! That first time, we cannot bring the kids yet. I am not sure whether Reto will be able to take the day off and come with me. But I am definitely going! By then they will have their eyes open and probably start moving around a little more.
The next visit, with kids, will be on 28 June. The puppies will be exactly 1 month old by then. (And lots of fun, I can imagine! :D ) The following visits will also be all with the kids and they will take place on 6 , 12 and 22 July. That last one is the day we are going on holiday. The visit on 22 July will be a special one anyway, because by then, we will know which pup will come home with us! And then, the day after we return from holiday, 3 August we will pick her up and take her home!
It is a great feeling to have agreed on all these dates. To have the visits to look forward too!

A first small sacrifice
Apart from the money that re-scheduling our holiday cost... Reto and I just made our first small sacrifice for our dog. We like going to pop concerts and we recently discovered the singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat. She has a lovely voice. She also happens to give a concert in Zurich in September... So we were about to buy tickets for mid September... until I realised that we will only have had our dog for just over 1 month by then.... I don't want to leave our puppy with a baby sitter that soon. when I told Reto, he immediately agreed. And thus, we are not going to the concert.
It is a great feeling, however, to know that we will have our dog by then! For over a month already! :D

Sleeping positions
I can't get enough of seeing the pictures of the puppies. Their interesting sleeping positions make me laugh! Here are a few examples. Name lottery
Okay, so we are probably going to give our puppy a different calling name. Still not 100% certain, but it seems very likely. Yesterday evening, during dinner we were trying to come up with other names than Mindy. We had a list of 3 or 4 names and started voting. After a while, Reto wouldn't vote anymore and we divided his vote, so that Tina, Lorenzo and I all had one and a third vote to give. Hahaha!
Finally, we had only 2 names left:
Mindy and Ruby.
Tina wrote those names on 6 pieces of paper. Each name 3 times. She then folded the pieces of paper and put them into a bowl. We let Reto draw (with his eyes closed). He drew Mindy! Tina was disappointed, as Ruby had been her idea and her favorite name. So she drew too, just to see what she would come up with. She came up with.... Mindy! And then Lorenzo thought he should draw too. He drew... Mindy! Finally, the kids wanted me to draw a name too. I first refused and told them that it was cosmically decided already... our dog will be a Mindy. But they kept pushing me. So in the end I relented and drew a piece of paper. From the way it was folded, I could see that it hadn't been opened yet. I unfolded it, and it was .... as expected... MINDY! Hahaha!
At that moment Tina almost got a fit! Told us that we had cheated! LOL! I couldn't do anything but laugh! I think it was just meant to be.
We are not going to decide about the name until we have visited the puppies a couple of times and until we know which one will be ours. And maybe, by that time, we will have gotten used to the names Nicole gave them. And if not, we will still have to see whether Mindy suits the dog.
We can hardly wait until the first visit!
