Maturing

Reto and I both have the feeling that Wesha is suddenly getting more mature. We noticed this change in her for the last 3 weeks. She is still of course very young and wild, but at the same time, she has lost some of the typical puppy-wildness and calmed down a little. She is also following commands better.

During training, she is doing very well too. During the first 2 times we went to this new training, she was very quickly distracted by the other dogs. She just wanted to run to them and play. But now she is focused better from the beginning of the training.
Tina and Wesha at Young & Dog trainig today:

It is still hard (read: impossible) to call her off when she is playing with another dog. So I usually take out a reward and that draws the other dog to me. Wesha follows the other dog and so I can grab her and put her on the leash. Yesterday morning though, she was playing with a Kooikertje and when I called her to me, she came! I was so proud!

As to the maturing: I am so glad that we didn't have her castrated at 6 or 7 months old! I am sure she would have missed this maturity development. We are still awaiting the first time that she goes into season. After that first time, I will go back to the vet and discuss castration again. I am still not 100% sure that we will have her castrated then.
