Nine Months

Wesha is nine months old today. A source of joy and love and laughter in our lives. She is such an enthusiastic, happy, playful dog. She has a definite mind of her own, she is very clever. She is also brave and doesn't scare easily. She isn't much into cuddling, but she does love sleeping at our feet or (if we allow her) next to us on the couch (only allowed when we are on holiday). She loves training and her focus is getting better each time. She loves playing with the kids.

The litter reunion has been canceled, because there is so much snow still. It started melting now, which makes it very soppy. No good circumstances for what Nicole and the dog trainers had in mind. Shame, we were really looking forward to it. But maybe when a new date has been set, we can meet even more of Wesha's sisters and brothers.

We are back on holiday in Davos. And Wesha has found the best spot to sleep... MY bed! Hahahaha. Only during the day though, we don't allow her on the bed at night.

On the look out

The snow is piled high next to the roads and Wesha has to stand up to it every now and then, to check whether there are other dogs near.

Maturing

Reto and I both have the feeling that Wesha is suddenly getting more mature. We noticed this change in her for the last 3 weeks. She is still of course very young and wild, but at the same time, she has lost some of the typical puppy-wildness and calmed down a little. She is also following commands better.

During training, she is doing very well too. During the first 2 times we went to this new training, she was very quickly distracted by the other dogs. She just wanted to run to them and play. But now she is focused better from the beginning of the training.
Tina and Wesha at Young & Dog trainig today:

It is still hard (read: impossible) to call her off when she is playing with another dog. So I usually take out a reward and that draws the other dog to me. Wesha follows the other dog and so I can grab her and put her on the leash. Yesterday morning though, she was playing with a Kooikertje and when I called her to me, she came! I was so proud!

As to the maturing: I am so glad that we didn't have her castrated at 6 or 7 months old! I am sure she would have missed this maturity development. We are still awaiting the first time that she goes into season. After that first time, I will go back to the vet and discuss castration again. I am still not 100% sure that we will have her castrated then.

Nele

This is Nele. She is the Coton de Tulear pup of Birgitt (friend of my sister in law Andrea):

Nele is only 9 weeks old and TINY, as you can see here:

Wesha wanted to play, but Nele fled:

and hid underneath me (it was hard to take pics of her like this, hehehehe. Andrea took this pic):

Wesha still wanted to play, but Mia was only interested in eating grass:

Something smells very interesting here:

Wesha still wants to play...

Mia is making sure that Wesha doesn't get too rough with Nele (look at Mia's paw!):

Snow pics

On our morning walk. Wesha didn't want to walk on without me:

Happily chewing a branch:

On our afternoon walk. Sniffing is still the best thing when there is snow:
